Iru
Iru was born tiny compared to others of her kind. She is often getting scolded about listening to punk rock and trying to fit into the humans world. How ever Iru is still the leaders daughter and soon she will have to lead her kind. Iru gets her spirit and personality from the punk rock bands making her hard to understand amongst the others of her kind. Iru is out spoken and well not let anyone or anything stand in her way of being the best version of her self.
Since there was not a concept for Iru the imagination had to take over. Most of the block was done by a subdivide cube and moving the topology around in sculpt mode to get the shapes and forms correct.
Once the block out had a nice silhouette, each part was union together. This allowed for a nice base mesh to sculpt on. It was at this stage where I can add details and push the shapes a little farther taking a stylized approach.
The most challenging part after sculpting is retopologizing the sculpt. trying have good edge flows and perfect geometry is always a tricky part. The topology for this character needed to be the best this way the character could be rigged and animated.
Thinking about how the character would fit in todays world to help create the textures was difficult since there was no reference to go off of. The blue jeans, cloth, and leather help give her the realism and make the character feel kind of punkish.
Every hero in a story needs a weapon right??
With the low poly done and the textures all finished it was time to rig and pose the character. The character has a life like pose due to the use of contrapposto and the understanding of weight shift.
